This seminar is designed to teach medical personnel how to code effectively using ICD-10-CM coding manual. The new guidelines are covered; changes, additional and differences explained. The vastly expanded code set is presented using a systematic, easy to manage approach, Learn the skills you need to transition to the 10.
Objectives
- Understand the structure of an ICD-10-CM code
- Review the new ICD-10 classification,
- Navigate the layout of the ICD-10-CM coding manual
- Abstract diagnostic statements from the medical record and differentiate between main and modifying terms and sub terms in the coding manuals
- Apply chapter-specific guidelines and select proper codes from ICD-10-CM, Chapters 1-21
- Hands- on practice exercises to solidify knowledge.
CPT Coding
This course will include brief primers on CPT coding for various procedures and an update on any new CPT codes recently passed by the AMA. The course will also provide an overview of ICD- 10 and some data on how the implementation has affected several codes.
Objective
- Discuss the basics of CPT coding and how various codes are selected for specific cases.
- Summarize the update on new CPT codes recently passed
- Learn current guidelines to improve accuracy, reduce claim denials, and remain compliant.
- Understand the meaning of terms such as fragmenting, bundling, and unbundling of codes.
